Housing Affordability
I am dedicated to LEADING THE WAY to bring Mississauga back to a place where affordability aligns with the reality of its residents, as soaring home prices challenge the city’s history of accessible living. With my commitment to affordability, I strive to ensure homes are priced within reach, reflecting the incomes of our diverse community, countering the current trend where average home prices exceed one million dollars. In my efforts to protect residents, I will tackle the sharp rise in rental rates head-on, aiming to alleviate the financial stress on working-class families and make essential living costs manageable. Through strategic initiatives, I am leading the way to revitalize affordability with a comprehensive strategy, including streamlining city processes, lowering development fees, promoting mixed-use developments, and meeting housing targets to draw in greater provincial and federal support.
Cost of Living
Addressing the impact of carbon tax-induced cost increases, I am LEADING THE WAY to tackle the issue head-on, striving to make essential items like groceries, clothing, and fuel more affordable for everyone. With my experience in Federal Politics, I will commit to helping the citizens of Mississauga. Implementing strategies to retain our community, I aim to ensure that Mississauga remains an economically viable home for families and young professionals to thrive and where people want to live. My focus is on making Mississauga a city where residents can both live and flourish without the burden of financial strain. I am committed to policy reforms that will achieve new housing affordability targets, reduce city fees, and challenge federal taxes, ultimately helping to decrease the economic burden on our citizens.
Improving Public Transit
I am LEADING THE WAY to elevating public transit as the backbone of an affordable Mississauga by focusing on improving reliability and service quality. As a passionate advocate, I champion unprecedented enhancements in transit infrastructure, pushing for the completion of essential projects like the downtown loop and improved GO services to better connect our communities. Addressing the challenge of overcrowded routes is a priority, and I am dedicated to expanding bus services to accommodate growing demand while implementing measures to prevent closed-door incidents, ensuring a smoother and more efficient transit experience for everyone in our city.
Creating Community
To build an inclusive community, I am LEADING THE WAY involving and fostering active, inclusive neighborhoods where residents of all ages feel a sense of belonging and purpose through the creation of community hubs and local initiatives. Addressing the pressing issue of loneliness in Mississauga, I recognize the need for a connected community that goes beyond national averages. With my experience in engagement and connection, I have championed events like the Malton Community Hub to promote interaction among residents. Additionally, in my commitment to community safety, I am adopting new initiatives to ensure every community member feels safe and to keep crime down.
